Can Rap Music Be Used To Worship God?

Worship. What comes to you mind when you hear the word? Oh wait. Let me guess. Slow song. When I say "Hey can I rap during your worship session?" Huh? What are you talking about? I'll get all the stares that scream weirdo!
So with the fixed perception we possess about what worship is, is there a place for rap music in worship?
Last time I checked.....aye you know that dictionary we have on smartphones? It described worship as honour, respect and the things you do to show your love and devotion, in our case to God. Did it mention slow song? I don't  think so.
Beautiful Eulogy (pictured above) are definitely masters of using rap music in worship sessions. Can we ever forget their 2018 album Worthy?
Beautiful Eulogy is a 3-man hip-hop band made up of rappers Braille and Odd Thomas and their producer Cortland Urbano.

Song Review: Armies By KB

So a couple of days ago, we were blessed with the release of this single by Christian Hip-hop sensation Kevin Burgess. Personally, I get excited anytime I hear KB has released a new song because he never disappoints. I believe Armies by KB is a song for today. A favourite Bible passage for a lot of people would be the 91st Psalm, which has to do with God's promises of protection concerning the people He loves. Armies is a song that reminds us of the fact that everywhere we go, we have an army of angels surrounding us.               LYRIC BY LYRIC REVIEW  Danger, giants Battle is my story But alone, I won't know That's my glory Shadows you cannot hide me, uh My King will fight The God of angel armies Is always by my side  So this is reminiscent isn't it? Remember that song by Chris Tomlin? Whom Shall I Fear? I've always been a hip-hop person, so I'll always prefer KB's version. We live in a world where we constantly w...

Album Review: Exit By Wande

Finally, we were all blessed with the release of Wande's debut album Exit. Prior to its release, there had been multiple singles and featured performances by the artist, and in each of them, we could sense that this girl is actually something special in the hip-hop scene. After all, wasn't she the first ever female artist signed to Reach Records?    First of, the sequence of the album was just fitting with the whole story being told. Starting with Be Yourself, and then ending it with Be The Light was especially significant. Exit was simply the story of God working through Wande from the start of her life till now. You know, there aren't really enough big female names in the hip-hop industry, and even less in the christian hip-hop genre. Because of that, I feel like it would be very easy for an upcoming female star to try to copy a big name, and then lose yourself in that light. Like she said in Be Yourself; "Don't be a clone, you were made too uniqu...
